If you love delivering heavenly and bubbly delights to our Sailors in their cabins this is the gig for you! This ‘someone’ knows our menu inside & out and knows what good service is and is dedicated to getting the food on time & piping hot or cold.
In other words, this ‘someone’ needs to know how to Make Ship Happen. Your excellent attention to detail and self-starter mentality means you can think quick on your feet and keep calm when ship gets real. Ultimately, we won’t be able to remember how we got by without you.
What You’ll be Up to:
Provides an epic experience for our guests at all times
Maintain complete knowledge of all menu items, cooking methods and beverage selections available for Room Service and other dining venues
Responsible for delivering food and beverage orders to Sailor’s staterooms in a professional and courteous manner
Maintain complete knowledge of appropriate linen, china, glassware and silverware and also setting up the room service trays in line with Virgin Voyages standards
Answers the Room Service phone promptly and ensures repeating of order for accuracy
Ensures all deliveries are made according to timescales set and where possible, notifies Sailors in advance of any potential delays
Maintains food presentation and temperature control at all times
Regularly monitors staterooms where food and beverage services have been delivered to ensure dirty/discarded items are removed in an efficient and timely manner
Ensures that all room service products, equipment and cleaning materials are used in a cost-effective manner
Informs their respective supervisor of all sailor issues, special requests, suggestions and complaints and, where possible, seeks to resolve
Ensures that all health regulations, like USPH, are maintained and adhered to
Ensures that Sailor orders are correctly entered into the system and monitors tab for any corrections necessary
Is familiar with all cruise services/features and activations to respond to Sailor inquiries accurately
Ensures compliance with the Company alcohol policy and notifies Restaurant Manager if Guests/Crew are in danger of breaching
Assists with embarkation/disembarkation procedures and luggage handling when required
Performs Quick Service and Crew Dining Service duties as and when required
Super Powers Required:
Minimum 1 year experience as Room Service/Stateroom Attendant onboard a Cruise ship or 4/5 star hotel/resort or restaurant
Passionate about people and able to handle guest complaints with a smile!
All certificates as required by the STCW code for this position
Strong written & verbal skills
