Participant Eligibility

Internship Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution outside the U.S. (field of study must be relevant to the placement) and have completed at least the first semester.
    OR
  • Graduated from a post-secondary academic institution outside the U.S. no more than 12 months before the program start date (field of study must be relevant to the placement)..

Trainee Requirements

  • Holds a degree or professional certificate from a foreign post-secondary institution and has at least one year of relevant experience outside the U.S. (field of study must be relevant to the placement).
  • OR
  • Has five years of relevant experience outside the U.S. (if the applicant does not have a degree or if the degree is not relevant to the placement).

Required Documents

  • Passport: Must have a minimum validity of 2 years from the date of application.

  • Proof of University Accreditation: Documentation confirming the accreditation status of your university. This should verify that the institution is accredited by the department or ministry of education in your home country (provide a certificate or an official letter from the university outlining the school’s credentials). The document must be in English or accompanied by an official translation.
  • Note: The U.S. State Department confirmed that fully online institutions without a physical campus are not eligible for the Intern/Trainee programs. The institution must have a physical campus offering in-person instruction.

  • Proof of Academic Status: A document from your university verifying your current academic status. Must be in English or include a translation.

  • University Diploma/educational certificate: If graduated, provide a copy of your diploma/certificate. Must be in English or include a translation.

  • Academic Transcripts: Provide official transcripts. Must be in English or include a translation.

  • Employment verification/Reference Letter (if applicable):Two reference letters written within the last 12 months by an employer and/or professor. Letters must be signed and on official letterhead.

  • Proof of English ability, One of the following is required:
    Official results of a standardized English assessment, OR
    A letter from a qualified English instructor certifying your English ability.

  • Police Clearance

  • Passport-sized Photo (white background)
