Intern and Trainee Programs

Intern and
Trainee
Programs

The Intern program is tailored for current college and university students or recent graduates, providing hands-on experience in their chosen fields. Interns must be currently enrolled in or have graduated from an accredited institution within the past 12 months. The Trainee program, similar in nature, requires participants to have a degree or professional certificate and at least one year of related work experience or five years of experience in their occupational field. Both programs offer:
-Practical experience and professional development.
-Higher pay and longer program durations.
-Opportunities to travel within the U.S.

Restrictions apply to unskilled labor, childcare, elder care, medical patient care, and roles with over 20 percent clerical duties.

Work And
Travel

Designed for post-secondary school students, the Work & Travel program offers Summer, Spring, Fall, and Winter employment opportunities. To qualify, participants must be proficient in English, enrolled in an accredited institution outside the U.S., have completed at least one semester of post-secondary study, and secure a job placement prior to entry. This program enables students to live and work in the U.S. during their Summer, Spring, Fall, and Winter break, experiencing American culture firsthand.

Key exclusions include:
– Seasonal or temporary jobs only.
– Positions that do not bring notoriety or disrepute to the Exchange Visitor
Program.
– Certain restricted job categories such as domestic help, clinical care with patient
contact, and positions in the adult entertainment industry.
