03 — Why this matters

Why this matters for your career.

America's finest resorts

The Ritz-Carlton and Gaylord Rockies. Names recognised across the global hospitality industry.

The American standard

Twelve months inside world-class operations — the service standards, the systems, the pace.

More than skills

Real English fluency from living it daily. International experience on your record. A professional network.

You bring it home

Built around your return, so everything you learn comes back with you. Graduates return ready to lead.

This is a cultural exchange, not employment. But what you carry home — the training, the standard, the experience — is yours to keep.

04 — Where you live

Where will I stay?

Housing is not the same at every resort. Two arrange it for you. One does not — and you need to know which before you choose a role.

Kalahari ResortsProvided · $112 a week

Housing is provided at every location — furnished accommodation at or near each resort. $112 per week, taken from your training stipend. No lease to sign.

  • Sandusky, Ohio — Kalahari Extended Stay, 1.5 miles from the resort
  • Pocono Manor, Pennsylvania — Safari Hall, on the resort
  • Round Rock, Texas — Kenney Fort House, under 1 mile from the resort
  • Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin — Bunker Run, on site
The Ritz-Carlton, Amelia IslandProvided · $150 a week

Housing is arranged for you — shared housing near the resort. $150 per week, taken from your training stipend.

  • No lease, no deposit, and no cash needed when you arrive
  • Furnished, utilities included, bedding and towels provided
  • Transport $75 per month, taken from your training stipend
  • Airport pickup from Jacksonville (JAX) if arranged in advance
Gaylord Rockies ResortYou rent your own apartment · read this

At Gaylord Rockies you arrange your own apartment. You sign your own 12-month lease. The resort will not sign a lease on your behalf.

  • Three weeks free accommodation on the property while you find somewhere, then $69 plus tax per night if you need longer
  • A $300 per month stipend covering housing and transport combined
  • Two recommended buildings, both about 2.5 miles away with a free resort shuttle from the light rail — Proximo at Pena Station (1-bed $1,385, 2-bed $1,989) and Elevate at Pena Station (1-bed $1,529, 2-bed $2,199)
  • Budget $500–550 per month sharing a two-bed between four, or $995–1,100 sharing between two
  • On top of rent: a security deposit (minimum $500, up to two months' rent depending on credit screening), application and administration fees, mandatory renter's insurance, and utilities

CTI walks you through the lease and introduces you to other participants going to the same resort so you can share and split the cost.

Do I need money for housing when I arrive?Arrival costs

At Ritz-Carlton and Kalahari your housing is arranged before you land and the cost comes from your training stipend.

At Gaylord Rockies you will need money up front — a security deposit of at least $500, application and administration fees, renter's insurance and utilities, on top of rent. The resort gives you three weeks free on the property while you find somewhere.

Property-specific arrival costs are set out in your offer letter and in the truth statement you sign before departure.

Housing costs may change before or during your programme. Terms and conditions apply. Check current figures with your CTI representative.

What is not includedYour own cost

None of the below is paid to CTI Group. These amounts are not fixed — they change with the resort you are matched with and the cost of living in that part of the United States.

Getting there and back
Return international airfare. Fares vary widely by season and by how early you book. CTI can book it for you — see below.
Getting around
Local transport differs by resort — $75 per month at Ritz-Carlton, a $300 monthly amount covering housing and transport at Gaylord, and varying distances at Kalahari.Ritz-Carlton provides airport pickup from Jacksonville if arranged in advance. The other resorts do not.
Living & entertainment
Food off shift, phone and data, toiletries, laundry, clothing for the season. Entertainment and leisure — days out, travel on your days off, eating out, cinema, sport, theme parks — entirely at your own cost.Winter clothing is a real expense for Colorado, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
When will I receive my first payment?Pay cycle

Your training stipend is paid on the resort's normal pay cycle, so nothing arrives on your first day. You need enough money to cover food, transport and daily living from the moment you land until that first payment clears.

The exact cycle depends on the resort you are matched with. Ask at your interview and budget for it before you travel — arriving without this is the single most common difficulty participants face.

Can CTI book my flights?Travel

Yes. CTI has its own travel department and can book your flights for you. If your departure date moves — which does happen on J-1 programmes — CTI will not charge you anything to change your booking. The airline may still apply its own change fee under its ticket rules, and that is outside our control.

08 — Know the facts

What you absolutely need to know.

The resorts and the roles are the good part. This is the part every candidate has to understand before they commit.

What exactly is a J-1 training programme? The full explanation

This is a training opportunity abroad — not a job abroad, and not migration.

Not H-2BNot EB-3Not a MOLISA channelNot a DOLAB channelNot permanent migration

J-1 is a cultural exchange programme administered by the U.S. Department of State. You train at a US host company for twelve months under a structured training plan, then you return home.

Your DS-2019 is issued by Alliance Abroad Group, a sponsor designated by the U.S. Department of State. CTI Group Worldwide Services is an authorised international recruitment partner under 22 CFR 62.22(g). We do not issue visas, we do not sponsor DS-2019 forms, and we cannot guarantee placement. A visa decision is made only by a U.S. consular officer, under U.S. law.

Participants may be subject to the two-year home-country physical presence requirement under INA 212(e).

Qualifications neededSix requirements
  • You are currently enrolled at a post-secondary institution, or graduated within the last 12 months
  • You speak excellent English — you will be screened on this
  • Your passport is valid for at least six months beyond your departure date
  • You can fund your own international airfare
  • You intend to return to your home country at the end of the twelve months
  • You can attend an interview in Bangkok on 23 or 24 September 2026 — or an online video interview if you are applying from Vietnam

If you are unsure whether you qualify, contact a CTI representative — they will go through your eligibility with you before you apply. Call +66 65 668 8100.

Do I need previous experience?Experience

Not for most roles. Kalahari roles require no prior experience at all.

The one exception is Amelia Island Culinary, which requires at least 1 year of experience and formal culinary education.

Excellent spoken English is required at every property and will be screened.

What happens after I register?Next steps

We pre-qualify you online first. If you qualify, we send you an invitation with a confirmed time — in Bangkok, or online from Vietnam.

What happens at the end of the twelve months?Your return

You return home. The programme is built around your return.

What you carry home — the training, the standard, the experience — is yours to keep.
