Housekeeping Hotel Facilities Technician

Job Summary:

Perform simple repairs and touch-up in Staterooms and Public Areas, as well as minor preventative maintenance of Housekeeping cleaning equipment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Clean, Service and maintain all assigned officer cabins in accordance with current Housekeeping procedures and standards.
  • Maintain the cleanliness of lockers, steward station and corridors within that section.
  • Clean and maintain the Captain’s pantry per HAL Housekeeping standards.
  • Provide meals service for senior staff officer cabins as and when requested.
  • Clean service entitled crew area cabins on turnaround day if assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Assist with embarkation day Stateroom cleaning activist if assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Assist with embarkation day Luggage activist if assigned by the Supervisor.
  • Maintain all Housekeeping equipment and cleaning tools in good working order in the course of performing the assigned cleaning duties, and to return the equipment in clean condition to the designated area after use. (Some equipment may require sanitizing)
  • Interact with officers, guests and co-workers in positive and professional manner
  • Ensure that all House Rules, Public Health Guidelines, Safety Regulations, and Environmental Guidelines are followed.
  • Report any safety or maintenance concerns to immediate Supervisor.
  • Maintain positive, effective, and respectful working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers and officers within and across department boundaries.
  • Adhere to ship’s relevant health & safety procedures as required
  • Comply with company policy regarding waste separation and environmental compliance
  • Uphold and display high standards of professionalism, integrity, honesty, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Stateroom Inspectors, Public Area Supervisor, Assistant Housekeepers or Chief Housekeeper
Physical Requirements:
  • While performing the essential functions of this job, all team members are required to stand; walk long distances on the ship; use hands to touch, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk, hear, taste and smell. All vessel positions require repetitive motion of bending, climbing, going up and down stairs and lifting more than 25 pounds. This job requires specific vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • All team members must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. All vessel positions require full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities to receive and give  instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats.
  • Work within different temperature changes—indoors to outdoors.
  • Able to pass basic safety course.
  • This is a minimal description of duties. Other work requirements may be necessary and assigned as business or maritime law dictates.
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Needs to be able to speak, read and understand English.
  • Needs to have at least a High School Education.
  • Needs to be physically able to carry at least 40lbs.
