Housekeeping Supervisor – Accommodation

Job Summary:

Inspect and follow-up on cleanliness and condition of all areas within guest staterooms, corridors, HK pantries, steward stations and all assigned areas in accordance with HAL policies and standards. Supervises Stateroom Stewards and Assistant Stateroom Stewards

Overall Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all operational aspects of the staterooms, corridors, HK pantries and steward stations on the assigned decks, ensuring cleanliness, proper maintenance and presentation standards are always maintained as per HAL standards, under the direction of the Assistant Executive Housekeeper.
  • Inspect daily: guest staterooms, corridors, HK pantries and steward stations for cleanliness, maintenance and setups as per established HAL standards. Inspections are to be carried out both during the morning service and evening service and corrections made to any deficiencies found.
  • Maintain accurate record keeping, report all maintenance issues to the Housekeeping Administrator and follow up promptly on all maintenance deficiencies to ensure prompt completion.
  • Coordinate all the special cleaning programs on the assigned decks; this includes soft furnishings cleaning program, carpet shampoo program, special projects etc.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance to all public health related cleaning and sanitization procedures on a constant basis in all the pantries, steward stations and guest staterooms on the assigned decks. This includes all GIS protocols, cleaning standards, sanitization procedures, pantry logs etc.
  • Take inventory and monitor par levels of the amenities and supplies required before placing orders via the Assistant Executive Housekeeper in order to control costs and at the same time ensuring that all team members have supplies for operational needs.
  • Supervise the baggage collection and distribution process on the assigned decks. Ensure efficient and prompt operation. Ensure that no baggage is left behind on the assigned decks and report missing luggage, if any, to the Assistant Executive Housekeeper.
  • Enforce all company policies and standards, compliance regulations, environmental policies and workplace safety standards on the assigned decks. Report any violations to the Assistant Executive Housekeeper.
  • Provide training to all Stateroom Stewards, both On-the-Job and classroom style training, as required, on a continuous basis.
  • Follow up on all guest special requests and inform the Assistant Executive Housekeeper of any guest related issues that require management involvement.
  • Follow up on any guest issues in AIMS and provide timely feedback on all action taken
  • Report disciplinary issues encountered to Assistant Executive Housekeeper, so that follow up and corrective action can be taken.
  • Have conversations with all direct reports, giving feedback on performance, inspection findings and development opportunities. Log relevant conversations to assist in preparing their performance evaluation.
  • Assist Assistant Executive Housekeeper in the preparation of evaluations for Stateroom Stewards and Assistant Stateroom Stewards, by providing concrete feedback of specific observations.
  • Review Guest Satisfaction Survey comments for respective area and take appropriate follow up action as instructed by the Assistant Executive Housekeeper.
  • Maintain effective and productive working relationships with staff, peers, managers and officers.
  • Follow and adhere to all health and safety procedures, training and requirements.
  • Comply with company policy regarding waste separation and environmental compliance.
  • Conduct regular training with all departmental team members on food waste separation and environmental compliance as per Global Hess policies.
  • Champions the use of the Navigator App experience tools to drive greater onboard revenue and guest satisfaction performance.
  • Lead by example in matters of professionalism, ethics, responsibility, integrity, ownership, engagement and personal presentation.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as related to facility maintenance / cleanliness, guest requirements and various orders assigned by Assistant Executive Housekeeper / Executive Housekeeper
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Preferred College or University degree/diploma in Hospitality Management related field preferred. International equivalent suffices.
  • Minimum 1-year leadership experience in the Hospitality Industry showing progressive growth in responsibility.
  • Preferred 1 years of shipboard experience within the Housekeeping Services environment.
  • Able to work well and communicate effectively with both shipboard personnel.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle constantly changing priorities.
  • Leadership, training and organizational skills demonstrated through experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Public Health and Sanitation protocols.
  • Working knowledge of computers and the ability to navigate within a variety of software programs such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
