Provision Storekeeper

POSITION SUMMARY

Receives, stores, and distributes food and beverage products and related supplies and equipment throughout the vessel by performing the following duties. The assigned storeroom supports the following shipboard functions: Main Galley, Crew Galley, Pantry, Bakery, Butcher, Windjammer, Dining Room, and Bar.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with Royal
Caribbean International’s The Royal Way, SQM standards, USPH guidelines,
environmental, and safety policies. Each shipboard employee may be required toperform all functions in various food and beverage service venues throughout the ship.
In accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s philosophy of Anchored in
Excellence, each employee conducts oneself in a professional and courteous
manner at all times. This consists of physical and verbal interactions guests or
fellow shipboard employees and/or in the presence of guest contact and crew
areas.
1. Each shipboard employee reports to their workstation assignment on
time and properly groomed and dressed according to Royal Caribbean
International’s brand standards. This includes a clean uniform,
nametag, and any other uniform related item.
2. Reads loading schedule, work order, shipping order, or requisition to
determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
3. Operates forklift to transports materials and items from loading areas
to storage or to other designated areas. Transports stored items from
storeroom or to pick up items from several locations throughout the
vessel.

4. Opens bales, crates, and other containers. Sorts and places materials or
items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined
sequence such as size, type, style, color, or product code.
5. Sorts and stores perishable goods in refrigerated rooms.
6. Weighs or counts items for distribution to ensure conformance to
company standards.
7. Compiles worksheets or tickets from department specifications. Fills
requisitions, work orders, or requests for materials, tools, or other
stock items and distributes items to departments. Places orders on
pallets, carts or shelves, or transports orders to department.
8. Marks materials with identifying information.
9. Maintains work area in a clean and orderly manner and according to
USPH standards.
10. Maintains inventory records. Records amounts of materials or items
received or distributed. Uses computer to enter records.
11. May prepare parcels for mailing.

12. Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-
related activities as required.

13. Performs related duties as required. This position description in no

the shipboard employee occupying this position. Shipboard employees
will be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by
their supervisor or management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum hiring, language and physical requirements to perform the job.

Hiring Requirements:
  • One to two years storeroom, inventory, or materials management
    experience stocking and delivering supplies and equipment for large 4 or 5 star hotels, resorts, or related facilities.
  • Ability to properly operate forklift and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of public health standards (USPH) related to storeroom
    management of a variety of dry, fresh and frozen food and beverage
    products.
  • Knowledge of refrigeration guidelines for fresh and frozen food and
    beverage products.
  • Knowledge of chemical storage guidelines.
  • Ability to perform basic math functions with regard to storeroom
    procedures.
  • Completion of high school or basic education equivalency preferred.
Internal Candidate Requirements:

In addition to the stated hiring requirements, internal candidates are required to fulfill the following:

  • Ability to attend and complete, with a passing score, onboard USPH training.
  • One year experience internally as a Provisions Utility with satisfactory or
    above performance ratings.
Language Requirements:
  • Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests.
  • Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond
    to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
  • Ability to speak additional languages such as Spanish, French or German
    preferred.
Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the shipboard employee is regularly
required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee may be required to move through storage areas of various temperatures (including extreme cold) repeatedly throughout the course of each day. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency life saving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
