POSITION SUMMARY

The Assistant Carpenter is responsible for all building and repairing woodwork,wallpapering, carpeting, and other general carpentry work. The Assistant Carpenterreports to the Carpenter Supervisor. The incumbent must demonstrate anexceptionally positiveattitude and the willingness to fully participate in a dynamicteam environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES

All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with RoyalCaribbean International’s The Royal Way, SQM standards,USPH guidelines,environmental, and safety policies. Each shipboard employee may be required toperform all functions in various venues and throughout the ship.In accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s philosophy ofAnchored inExcellence, each employee conducts oneself in a professional and courteous mannerat all times. This consists of physical and verbal interactions with guests or fellowshipboard employeesand/or in the presence of guest contact and crewareas.

1. Understands the Safety and Quality Management Programincluding his/her responsibilities in the Safety Organizationaccording to the Emergency Plan and Station Bill.

2. General maintenance of woodwork, wall paneling, doors,locks and other related elements.

3. Ensures the proper safety and protection equipment is beingused in the daily operations and critical working areas are sealedoff from the passengers. Take into consideration Ports of Call,time, port and local regulations.

4. Reports progress on all related maintenance performed onboard vessel to the Carpenter and the Carpentry Supervisor.

5. Knows, follows and enforces SQM policies.

6. Attends mandatory crew and guest safety drills as required.

7. Maintains and encourages theAnchored in Excellencecredo atall times.

8. Performs related duties as assigned by the Carpenter and/orthe Carpenter Supervisor.

9. Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all otherwork-related activities as required.

10.Performs related duties as required. QUALIFICATIONS

Hiring Requirements:

Minimum hiring, language and physical requirements to perform the job.

Elementary and middle school (8th grade) or better or its internationalequivalent.
Minimum of two years Craftsman related experience and training

Internal Candidate Requirements:

In addition to the stated hiring requirements, internal candidates are required tofulfill the following:

Completion of one full contract with a performance rating of satisfactory orabove.

Language Requirements:

Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests.
Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret writtenprocedures, memos, technical proceduresor governmental regulations. Thisincludes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal formsand to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests,supervisors and co-workers.
Ability to speak additional languages(s) is desirable.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the shipboard employee is regularlyrequired to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel objects, tools, orcontrols; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. In theevent of an emergency the employee may be required to sit, stoop, kneel orcrawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision,distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjustfocus.
All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate inemergency life saving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms andlegs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receiveand give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering oflifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
