Engine Foreman
Position Summary:
This position shall carry out the work orders given by the Staff Chief Engineer.
He/she must be a skilled worker and be able to complete a variety of maintenance and
repair work.
Employees may be required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by their
supervisor or management. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in
accordance with the Company’s Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.
Qualifications:
- License of Oiler/Fireman/Motorman.
- Completed general Fire Fighting training.
- Maintain current STCW certification.
- Knowledge of auxiliary systems such as, hydraulic, water and sewage.
- Five (5) plus years of sea service.

- Collaborates with supervisors to understand and comply with the company’s
environmental policies and is committed to safeguarding the environment. Informs
immediate supervisor if any environmental system does not function properly
onboard. - Ensures the engine room crew follows the existing rules concerning break times.
- Reports any task that should be of the Staff Engineer’s concern.
- Acts as spokesman between the engine crew and the Staff Engineer during work and
free time. - Ensures work is carried out properly and in a timely and efficient manner.
- Assists the Staff Chief Engineer with the duties that the Staff Chief Engineer has
delegated to him. - Responsible to organize all work orders received from the Staff Chief Engineer and
report to the Staff Chief Engineer how the job is proceeding/progressing. - Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with ISM/ISO and SQM
standards, USPH guidelines, Environmental and Safety policies.

Physical & Language Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to
stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms;
talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or
move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include
close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,
and ability to adjust focus. - All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency
life saving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well
as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and giveinstructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- All shipboard employees must be able to communicate in the English
language in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This
includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms
and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests,
supervisors and co-workers.
