Department: Guest Experience & Product Development

Reports To: Executive Housekeeper

Job Summary: Overall in-charge of all onboard floral arrangements including ordering necessary floral supplies, storage, daily maintenance and complete upkeep of both fresh and artificial floral arrangements onboard.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Executive Housekeeper on a daily basis and follow the working hours as assigned
  • Follow all house rules, MHD’s, MOM’s and grooming standard as outlined in the Dianthus contract
  • Attend daily/weekly Executive Housekeeper’s meetings as and when advised by Executive Housekeeper
  • Responsible for the administration of flower re-order, billing, reporting and leasing with the Food & Beverage Manager
  • Ensure all florist related supplies are picked-up, stored and secured properly in the assigned area
  • Ensure that the florist’s work station is cleaned on a daily basis and well kept
  • Maintain safe workplace, with emphasis on employee health, fire and safety
  • Participate in weekly public area inspections with Hotel General Manager and Executive Housekeeper and follow-up on findings related to cut flowers, live plants and artificial flowers / plants
  • Ensure that the standard order of fresh flower arrangements are prepared in a timely manner, both on embarkation day and during the voyage
  • Ensure that all floral arrangements (cut flowers, live plants, silk flowers and silk plants) are maintained at HAL standards. This includes trimming, pruning, clipping, fertilizing, soil rejuvenating, watering, dusting and decorating.
  • Prepare gift orders as advised by corporate HAL.
  • Prepare gift orders and guest purchases as advised by Guest Services Manager (Order to be routed through Food & Beverage Manager and copy to Executive Housekeeper).
  • All gift orders are to be prepared at HAL standards and in a timely manner
  • To conduct flower arrangement demonstrations for guests as and when requested by Executive Housekeeper (Event Manager to route this request via Hotel General Manager)
  • Team Member or Officer requests for private flower arrangement purchase is not to be accepted directly. All such requests are to be routed via the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • The Florist will not be involved in any other business onboard other than the Florist related items as outlined in Dianthus contract and HAL job description
  • Ensure all assigned reports and logs are signed and kept up-to-date
  • Ensure compliance with Environmental Guidelines and Regulations
  • Interact with the guests and crew in positive manner
  • Actively promote the sales of flowers to guests onboard during the entire cruise
  • Maintain positive, effective, and respectful working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers and officers within and across department boundaries.
  • Follow and adhere to ship’s relevant health & safety procedures as required
  • Comply with company policy regarding waste separation and environmental compliance
  • Actively promote the use of the company’s proprietary Navigator App and responsible for acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively assist guests with the workings of the App.
  • Uphold and display high standards of professionalism, integrity, honesty, attendance, punctuality, and personal appearance.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Needs to be able to speak, read and understand English.
  • All other skills and experience requirements to be determined by Dianthus.
