Job Summary:

Overall management of Integrated Pest Management Program onboard, including regular inspections, appropriate chemical application, maintaining required logs and proper recordkeeping, as well as verification of all departmental logs.

OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Manage IPM program, through monitoring and recording of all pest activity, including night and evening inspections. Inspections must also note any poor practices which may promote pest activity.
• Apply appropriate pest control method to targeted pest.
• Check all insect monitoring traps (cockroach, flies, etc.)
• Verify that all departments are placing monitoring traps and bait stations and applying chemicals, as needed.
• Collect all monthly IPM logs from various departments verify for accuracy and maintain proper recordkeeping.
• Fill out and maintain the appropriate IPM logs accurately.
• Effectively communicate sanitation problems and issues for target pest management to upper management and supervisors, and relevant department heads.
• Ensure routine departmental inspections are carried out and recorded in logs.
• Participate with various ship inspections and attend the Monthly Health and Sanitation Meeting.
• Assist in Supervising Luggage loading and offloading.
• Assist in Supervising Hit squad operations.
• Assist in internal public health inspections of Housekeeping pantries, Steward-stations and Housekeeping lockers.
• Maintain effective and productive working relationships with staff, peers, managers and officers.
• Follow and adhere to all health and safety procedures, training and requirements.
• Comply with company policy regarding waste separation and environmental compliance
• Conduct regular training with all departmental team members on food waste separation and environmental compliance as per Global Hess policies
• Champions the use of the Navigator App experience tools to drive greater onboard revenue and guest satisfaction performance
• Lead by example in matters of professionalism, ethics, responsibility, integrity, ownership, engagement and personal presentation.
• Other duties as assigned by Assistant Executive Housekeeper / Executive Housekeeper.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Preferred College or University degree/diploma in Hospitality Management related field preferred. International equivalent suffices. Pest Management certifications also preferred.
• Minimum 1-year leadership experience in the Hospitality Industry showing progressive growth in responsibility.
• Minimum 1 year in role of active pest management in any pest control organization. (not required for internal candidates. However Internal candidates must be certified by HAL IPM consultant)
• Possess sufficient proficiency in English language to be able to communicate problems and issues with IPM consultant, Seattle head office and PH Travelling Trainers independently.
• Possess sufficient presentations skills to be able to conduct training for large group of people.
• Preferred 1 years of shipboard experience within the Housekeeping Services environment.
• Able to work well and communicate effectively with both shipboard and shore-side personnel.
• Ability to multi-task and handle constantly changing priorities.
• Leadership, training and organizational skills demonstrated through experience.
• Basic knowledge of Public Health and Sanitation protocols.
• Basic knowledge on reading and understanding MSDS, SDS and product labels and providing guidance thereafter on use of those products. (products related to IPM)
• Working knowledge of computers and the ability to navigate within a variety of software programs such as Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
