POSITION SUMMARY

The Junior Seaman is responsible for the maintenance and conservation of the vessel’sdecks and superstructures. He participates in the deck activities according toassignment, knowledge and accumulated experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

All duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with RoyalCaribbean International’s The Royal Way, SQM standards, USPH guidelines,environmental, and safety policies.Each shipboard employee may be required to perform all functions invarious servicevenues throughout the ship.

1.In accordance with Royal Caribbean International’s philosophyofAnchored in Excellence, each employee conducts oneself in aprofessional and courteous manner at all times. This consists of physicaland verbal interactions with guests or fellow shipboard employeesand/orin the presence of guest contact and crewareas.

2.The Junior Seaman shall complete the familiarization form of Chapter 2according to the established procedures.

3.The Junior Seaman shall be familiar with the Safety & QualityManagement Program including his responsibilities in the SafetyOrganization according to the Emergency Plan and Station Bill.

4.The Junior Seaman shall always use the correct safety and protectionequipment provided in the dailyoperations and follow the safetyinstructions from the Bosun and the 2nd Bosun in this respect.

5.The Junior Seaman shall be familiar with the procedures of solvingpassenger complaints as described in theGuest Services Manual (seerelated entries below).

6.If in doubt, the Junior Seaman shall ask a more experienced crewmember about the procedures.

7.Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-relatedactivities as required.

8.Performs related duties as required. This position description in no waystates or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by theshipboard employee occupying this position. Shipboard employees willbe required to perform any other job-related duties assigned by theirsupervisor or management.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum hiring, language and physical requirements to perform the job.

Hiring Requirements:

The Junior Seaman must hold the certificates required by the Flag Stateand he should have basic safety training before employment.

Internal Candidate Requirements:

In addition to the stated hiring requirements, internal candidates are required tofulfill the following:

Completion of one full contract with a performance rating of satisfactoryor above.

Language Requirements:

Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests.
Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpretwritten procedures. This includes the ability to give and receiveinstructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively presentinformation and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the shipboard employee isregularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel;reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. Specificvision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision,color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjustfocus.
All shipboard employees must bephysically able to participate inemergency life saving procedures and drills. Full use and range of armsand legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required toreceive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including thelowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
