Shore Excursion Assistant Manager

Job Summary:

Assists with the sales, administration and management of the onboard Shore Excursion Department maximizing guest service and revenue opportunities.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Achieve or exceed Shore Excursion revenue and cost of sales objectives per established targets.
  • Achieve or exceed guest quality standards and ratings for Shore Excursions Tours consistent with department and company goals.
  • Possess and share knowledge of established tour program. Monitor, escort tours and provide feedback on a daily basis.
  • Provide accurate account of guest participation for each tour and prepare tour dispatch.
  • Assist with the operation of the Shore Excursion Office and EXC Space, including sales, service, training new team members, production of guest order form, promotions and advertising material, office hours and maintenance of office equipment.
  • When required by Shore Excursion Manager or circumstance, update and present live Shore Excursion PowerPoint sales presentation(s) during voyage to maximize revenue & service.
  • Participate in social functions and apply a “cold sales approach” as needed to exceed revenue targets and extend the sales and customer service experience beyond the Shore Excursions Desk.
  • Actively promote the use of the Company’s proprietary Navigator App and responsible for acquiring the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively assist guests with the workings of the App.
  • Perform and manage other duties as assigned by the Shore Excursion Manager and/or described in the Shore Excursions Operating Procedures.
  • Perform presentation in foreign languages and translate documentation when applicable.
Hiring Criteria:
  • Minimum two year sales experience in a related field and comfortable with the “cold sales”
    approach.
  • Customer Service minded, patient, loves people and has a genuine interest in guest’s experience.
  • Excellent English and communication skills. An additional European language is a plus. (Dutch, Spanish, and German) preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Products, Point of Sales Systems, Database and Mobile Devices.
  • Outgoing personality and a team player.
  • Strong social, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to relocate, live and work onboard with coworkers for a minimum of 6 months.
  • Ability to handle constantly changing priorities and work long hours.
  • Minimum of one year shipboard experience in a comparable sales setting preferred.
  • Destination knowledge is a plus.
  • Must have a Pre-Employment Medical Examination and Fitness Certificate as required by MLC2006.
  • Ability to participate and pass basic safety, firefighting and other required training.
  • Possession of Seaman’s book for European, South American or World Cruises itineraries
