Standard Role Summary:

Oversee and assist the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of waste treatment equipment, ensuring the equipment and garbage room plant remain in working order, maximising the environmental efficiency of the ship.

Primary Responsibility of the Role:

Supervise, train and develop the Waste Disposal Operatives and ensure the segregation, treatment and disposal of shipboard waste is carried out in accordance with all current safety, company and international regulations. Service and clean the equipment, plant and space within the garbage room, undertaking general housekeeping and maintenance as required. Ensure all maintenance and repairs are carried out promptly, safely and to the correct standards. Constantly monitor equipment and machinery, identify any defects or problems promptly and report issues to the Environmental Compliance Officer for further investigation. Liaise effectively with local ports ensuring waste is discharged correctly and in line with local regulations
